5 Ways to Be Eco-Friendly This Summer

5 Ways to Be Eco-Friendly This Summer

With scorching temps it’s easy to forget about everything except staying cool. However, this summer it’s so important to be conscious about living, working, and playing in and eco-friendly way. If you’re not sure where to start on your green journey, we’ve got our five favorite ways we like to be eco-friendly in the summer and year round.

Use a Reusable Water Bottle at Work

Grabbing a disposable water bottle is easy but as plastic levels rise all around the world, using a reusable bottle water helps to reduce plastic waste and consumption. When you get thirsty at work, instead of reaching for another plastic bottle, grab your reusable water bottle and refill it. You can make a game out of it with the other clinicians to see who can reduce their plastic consumption and waste the most for the months of July and August.

Carpool to Work

You’re all going to the same place, why not ride together? Find out which clinicians and staff members live near each other and coordinate a carpooling schedule. You can create a reward system for those who choose to participate in the program. Remember that not everyone may be able to participate due to post-work schedules and activities.

Get Your HVAC System Serviced

It’s almost impossible to live without air conditioning in the summer. Which means you’re likely running your air conditioning unit a lot. Getting your HVAC system serviced every spring or summer helps to keep it running at its best and avoids wasting any energy.

Use EcoPro Pillow Covers

Did you stop using cloth pillow covers because washable ones seemed like the better solution? Did you know that washing cloth pillow covers uses about 5,200 gallons of water per therapist, per year? Additionally, using EcoPro pillow covers saves at least 2 trees per year and 700 kWh of electricity. EcoPro pillow covers save time, money, and help your PT clinic work in a more eco-friendly manner.

Unplug

This might seem like a no brainer but it’s super easy to forget about a light or fan that needs to be turned off after a long day. Placing signage around the clinic to remind clinicians and staff to unplug when they’re done can help everyone do their part in living green. Make sure that when you close up for the day you only leave on electronics that are necessary for keeping the building safe and for any staff that may come in at night to clean.

Living Green

Shifting to a more conscious way of living and working is never easy at first. At EcoPro our mission is to help you find easy solutions to living and working green. Learn more about our mission and how EcoPro pillow covers can help you save money and live green.
