You’ll need to compile a list of keywords that potential patients are already searching for. Additionally, look for any broken links that are currently on your website. This is common for sites that have been up for awhile with little to no maintenance. Finally, you’ll want to compile a list of keywords that direct searchers to your site. Finally, add these words where they’re appropriate on your website and you’re ready to be found!

Create a Blog

Blogging is an easy and effective way to attract and direct readers to your website. You can use blogging as a way to inform readers, attract new patients, and improve your SEO score through the use of keywords throughout the blog.

However, you don’t want to just start writing and hope for the best. It’s ideal that you choose a tone of voice, keep your blog updates consistent, and tailor it correctly to the audience you’re looking for. Don’t be surprised if you need to outsource this task some or all of the time.

You read reviews before you eat at a restaurant, stay in a hotel or visit a tourist site, so it’s no surprise patients are doing the same thing before visiting a healthcare provider. Truly happy patients are going to be more than willing to help your practice out if you ask them to write a review.

While you can ask them to post on Yelp, Facebook or Google, you can also ask them to send you a testimonial directly through an email or Google Doc survey link.

Contribute Articles and Content to Outlets that Reach Your Target Audience

Contributing to outlets outside of your typical bubble (i.e: your blog and social media pages), helps establish you as an industry thought leader. Some ideas of different outlets to reach out to are:

  • Local newspaper
  • Industry-specific jobs
  • Local or national podcast producers

Just remember that the outlets and content you produce for them should be in alignment with your original target audience.

Creating tons of new blogs or writing new content every week for multiple publications may be too time consuming for you. That’s okay! You can still find a way to market your clinic online through an e-newsletter.

When creating content for a newsletter remember to ask yourself, “what’s my goal?” Do you want to introduce a new clinician, educate readers on new practices with PT or highlight events, etc. Newsletters are easy to distribute digitally and are often much shorter and less time consuming than blogging.
